Tutorial- How to frame your diecut shapes

Hi dear friends and followers,

You know when you use your dies around the images on your card or the designpapers if you make a shaped card. The dies come in different sizes, but usually you feel like there should be one more die between them to make a narrow frame around your images ore papers to get that neat look. Many of you have been asking me how I do this. Here's a tutorial I made for Ett Trykk Magazine on a copule of ways to make your diecut fit better.

The image used is Watercan Avery by the Paper Nest Dolls. Copics used:
Skin: E000-00-11-13, R20
Hair: E59-57-53-51
Dress, bow and shoes: B97-95-93-91
Apron: W7-3-1-00
Watercan: W7-5-3-1-00
Ground:W5-3-1-00

Now, on to the tutorial:
The first part is for makeing a smaller frame than your diecut.
1. You need: Cardboard, dies, scalpell, scissors, pencil, eraser, tape, embossing tool
1. Utstyr: Kartong, dies, skalpell, saks, blyant, viskelær, teip.

2. Glue the dies to the cardboard using your tape. Make sure your tape is on the outside of the die only if you use a permanent one.

3. Cut along the inside of the die using your scalpel.
 3. Skjær langs innsiden av diesen med skalpell.

4. Remove the dies and carefully go over with the scalpel again to be sure that you have cut through completely.

5. Emboss the edges gently to make them nice and smooth.
5. Gå over kantene med pregeverktøy for å lage fine rene kanter.

The second part is for making your frame larger than your diecut shape. The one I've used around the image on my card.

6. For the second method you need need dies, pencil, scissors, eraser, embossingtool

7. Draw around the edge of the die using your pencil.
7. Tegn rundt kanten av diesen.

8.  Cut. Move your paper not the scissors when cutting for a smoother result.

9 . Erase the pencil lines and emboss the edges using your embossing tool.
9. Hvisk bort blyantstrekene og preg kanten forsiktig for å få pen kant.

10. Here's my finished card!
10. Her er det ferdige kortet mitt.

Materials used:
Bildmålarna - designpapers

Spellbinders – scalloped circle, dies around image
Unknown - 1 1/4 inch circlepunch,
Go Create – Small Frilly square dies,

Christmas Carolers.

Hi peeps,
hope you are enjoying your weekend! Here's a custom made card I made for the Paper Nest Dolls, it's on their blog today.

Papers are by Papirdesign, Dies by Marianne Design (branches) and Spellbinders (pointsettia). Pearls by panduro. Sentiment by Magnolia and charms from ebay.
I stamped the pointasetta using a stencil and white ink. I inked all edges using distress inks- walnut stain.

Image is called Christmas Carolers.  I used the no-lines technique for my coloring, witch gives the image a softer look.
Copics used:
Skin: E15-13-11-21-00-000, E93
Hair: E29-25-21
Brown: E47-44-43-41

Lantern: E35-33-31-30, YR24-21-20, Y11
Grey/Black: W9-7-5-3-1-00
Dotted background: B60, C1, W1

DT Copic Marker Europe: Holiday album- coloring large images

Hi crafty friends,
Here's my latest project for Copic Marker Europe. I find that coloring larger images is a fun challenge, and a nice way to practice coloring technique. So much easier to practice the small details, but harder on the larger surfaces though...lol. Here is the front of an album I made for summer holiday scrapbooking. Size of album is 30 x 26,5 cm ( 12 x10 1/2 inches).

I love coloring this image! So many fab details! I used paper and postmark stamps by Kort og Godt, map stamp by Magnolia, and some dies and wooden charms to decorate along with some tickets from my drawer.
I used the W's to create a frame on the corners of the image.

The image is Pack Light by Saturated canary. It's a digi, so I printed it in size 22 x 16 cm ( app. 81/2 x6 1/2 inch) Copic colors used:
Skin: E13-11-21-00-000, R20
Hair: E29-25-21
Sweater and green details: E89-87-84-81
Skirt, bow, sock: V17-15- E57
Suitcase 1: E18 -09-08 -13
Suitcase 2: V99-95-93-91
Blue details: B99-97-95-93-91
Camera: W9-7 -5- 3, YR24-23-21, E35
Shadow: W5-3-1-00

I did not have sticker letters in the right color so I took some white ones and colored them using V15 and V17 to mach the colors on the image.

This is how it turned out
(the colors don't show to well on this picture, but it is the same color as the skirt)

Some details. I used Crackle paint on the clock and camera diecuts to give it structure.

Hope I gave you some inspiration to play with your markers!

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week!

GDT Paper nest dolls August release

 Hi peeps,
the lovely Christine over at the Paper Nest Dolls asked me to GDT for the august release of the PND Zodiac Collection. This image called Zodiac Leo, is so cute I had to say yes. I loved coloring the gorgeous hair and dress on this adorable image!

I used Graphic 45 papers,  Martha Stewart punch, WOC and Kort og Godt flowers, Tim Holtz dies (bird and cage), Maya Road pearl pins and a little charm is from a big bundle I bought on ebay. The Sentiment is by Whimsey Stamps.

I used a pile of copic colors on this cutie called Zodiac Leo, I'm not sure if I remember them all, but to the best of my recollection:
Skin: E23-15-13-11-21-00-000, Hair: E29-25-21, E49, Dress E89-87-84-81, W7, Leo: YR 14-20-21-24, Y23, E25, E07-18, YR14-18, E25
Ground: E33-31-30, E87-84, G84

I used my sewing machine along the edges of the design papers, and I used the same papers insde the card.

Hope you like it. Pop over to the Paper Nest Dolls to se the rest of the lovely release!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today,
wishing you a creative day!
